Legacy of Richard Calver Art Auction

May 2024 | Attention all art lovers! We are excited to announce a new fundraiser that blends together the beauty of art and the spirit of philanthropy. The upcoming auction, set to take place in 2024, will feature a unique collection of work by late Quadra Island artist, Richard Calver.

Richard Calver generously donated the majority of his personal art collection to the Museum at Campbell River and the Campbell River Art Gallery jointly. It is because of this wonderful legacy gift that we are able to hold an auction in his honour.

The auction will include a variety of pieces, including his early sketches, watercolour paintings, oil paintings, and prints. Each piece is a reminder of his great talent and an homage to Campbell River artistic culture. For many the artworks will be like a time capsule, and will be a treasured addition to any art collection. The insightful, sensitive, and expressive works of this very special artist are a solid investment and are sure to bring years of enjoyment.

The proceeds from this auction will go towards supporting the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Museum at Campbell River. These two organizations play a key role in preserving and promoting art and culture in Campbell River. With your support, we can continue to provide educational programs, exhibitions, and events for all members of our community to enjoy.

The bidding process will take place online starting May 15, 2024, making it accessible to art lovers from all over the region. For those who prefer an in-person viewing, all pieces will also be on display at the Museum at Campbell River.

The auction will run for 12 days opening Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 12:00pm and close on Sunday, May 26 at 8:00pm. Participants will need to register to bid on the more than 100 pieces available for auction. Registration for the auction is free and open now so register early to receive updates.
